Flapjacks, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Fudge Sponge, Spanish Macaroons, Brownies and Date & prune cake

G A S P ! ! !

All of the above. Yes ALL!! They are literally 2 feet away from my nose and my sticky, greedy, cake-snaffling fingers.

As a suggested idea from a colleague (a fellow lover of all things edible) we are having a "Bring-a-cake-that-you-have-made-yourself-to-work" Day. It's a blistering success. There have been a few cheeky surprises with one contender delivering, with no fanfare whatsoever, a glossy, sumptuous temptress of a cake (as yet untested - reports and full review available in the near future). However, there has also been skullduggery. The appeallingly innocent looking carrot cake is not all it seems....
Oh yes. It looks like a jolly little morsel. But, we have discovered it is nothing but a fraud, a phony! There was much scandalous gossip and a great deal of hooting incredulity when the discovery was made. The carrot cake is..... shop bought! And, to add insult to injury, was swathed in paper that this morning's breakfast toast was wrapped in. Shocker! It does taste mighty fine tho...

My cream cheese brownies have had a warm reception. However the macaroons seem to be a little lonely of attention. I can always take them home if untouched as the other half does seem to be rather partial to them.

The WI must have a right rip-roaring time with their cake bake-offs! Thank the Lord this wasn't a competitive event or there could have been gougings, bitings or pulling of hair.

I'm so full of cake that I can't even contemplate lunch today. I shall put ideas of lunch on hold whilst I nibble on a bit of flapjack. Mind you. I have many weekends away coming up - beginning tomorrow with the Bank Holiday weekend in Dubrovnik - so I need to be aware that a cake-belly on the beach is something that no-one should have to look at...

Breakaways!!!

I'm not in my usual office today so the dessert thing is a bit of a problem. However.....

I've just had a Breakaway biscuit. How fabulous! It took me right back to my childhood. All I needed to complete the memory was a meat paste sandwich, some cheese & onion crisps and a carton of juice. I can do without the shorts and sandals tho - not such a vision when considering enjoyable lunches... not to mention a bit nippy around the ankles.

In fact, another memory is slowly trickling thru.... I sometimes used to swap sandwiches with my friend Pete - he used to always have some kind of smoked chicken stuff on his and, for the odd change - and being a charitable sort I felt a bit sorry for him having the same thing all of the time! - I'd be willing to hand over a ham n cheese to live dangerously by eating exotic tinned chicken. Such culinary diverstity in one so young! Maybe that's why I switched to adoring cake and biscuits so much. A boy can only take so much non-specific tinned poultry product. I wonder how Pete turned out...!

Anyway. Breakaways. They're still really good! I was also coerced into having a couple of Rolos this morning too. Now they're still delish.

Do they still sell Curly Wurleys? I'd love to get my teeth into one of them...

Friday today and I'm already gearing up for a nigt out on the lash. I can already smell the dangerous whiff of beer and Soho. A dreadful yet heady combination. Saturday morning may just have to be rescheduled until later in the day.....

Chocolate and Orange Bread & Butter Pudding

Blimey! Bread & Butter pudding - yum. With Chocolate! And Orange!! Yikes - how delicious!.

However, I'm trying to be super healthy and to avoid naughty stuff such as this. I had a v tastey Caesar sald which now means I'm breathing savage garlic stench over my colleagues. Fortunately, two of said colleagues have eaten the same so we all smell bad together. Phew!

Again, it's been a long ol' time since I last blogged (forgive me! Do I now get 20 cyber Hail Mary's and a handful of virtual prayers to recite? - apologies to the Catholic faith - no insult intended, just random thoughts...)

A busy couple of weeks behind me and I'm soooo glad it's Friday. Can't wait for a major lie in tomorrow morning. I plan to slumber until 10am and then eat a vast amount of fabulous breakfast items until about lunchtime, at which point you know what happens.... Lunch!
Also meeting some chums that I haven't seen for a few weeks which will be nice.

It's been a week of catch-ups too - Wednesday and Thursday I got together with friends who I haven't seen for ages. I do like a catch-up. Aided by booze obviously.

A proferred Polo mint hasn't really helped my Buzzard-breath issue. I feel I must find a solution as I'm interviewing in 10 minutes time. Poor candidates - as if they're not nervous enough, I pile on extra panic by causing them temporary asphyxiation. Note to self... open the windows and put the air-com on full blast...

See you soon blog. I promise.
